Welcome to the 3rd Annual Special Olympics Massachusetts Golf-A-Thon!
We kick off this year’s event with a welcoming reception on Sunday September 27th, at the Royal Plaza Hotel, Marlborough.
The Golf-a-thon format has changed this year! We will be playing 3 rounds of continuous golf, Bramble format with handicaps, over 2 award winning championship courses at Stow Acres Golf Club. Tee-off will be at 7am, with a finish time of 5pm, followed by a skills competition and awards banquet!
As always, there will be surprises throughout the day, including the opportunity for teams to add a 5th man, one of our Special Olympic golf champions, at different holes! Every Par 3 hole will have a hole-in-one prize and nearest the pin prize!
New for 2009! At 5pm on Monday the 28th, there will now be the "International Trading SOMA Golf Challenge". The challenge will consist of a maximum of 8 players playing the 18th on the South Course. If there is a tie after completing the 18th, it will be decided by various chipping and putting events until we have a Champion. There will be a trophy for the Champion and a 1/3rd of the total challenge entrance fee. The entrance fee is $250 per challenger paid on the day, but you can sign up NOW by just emailing . There will also be the opportunity for those not playing to enter the 50/50 golf challenge raffle where for $10 you can buy a ticket supporting a particular player and if they win you will go into the draw with "only" the people who also selected that player. This should add some great fun to the end of the day and will hopefully become a favorite for years to come. Spots are filling up quickly, and we are only taking 18 foursomes for this event. Each team’s minimum sponsorship is $6000 ($1500 per golfer). In addition to the minimum sponsorship, teams can use this website to raise more money through pledges.
